Nwulu Nmandi Profile


he is a professor and the director at the centre for cyber-physical food, energy and water systems (ccp-fews) at the university of johannesburg. his research interests include developing and applying mathematical optimization techniques and machine learning algorithms in food, energy, and water systems. he has written three books, edited a fourth, and has another three scheduled to be published in 2021 and 2022. he won the 2020 uj vice-chancellors most promising young researcher award; was a 2020/2021 nstf-south32 tw kambule award finalist in the emerging researcher category; and is a member of the south african young academy of science.
prof nwulu is a senior member of the institute of electrical and electronics engineers; a senior member of the south african institute of electrical engineers; and is y-rated by the national research foundation. he is the editor-in-chief of the journal of digital food energy and water systems, and he is an associate editor of the iet renewable power generation and the african journal of science, technology, innovation and development (ajstid).
